Apple has started sending shipping notifications to customers that pre-ordered the iPhone 4S last Friday.
First-day orders for the iPhone 4S hit 1 million on Friday, easily breaking the single-day record of 600,000 first-day sales for the iPhone 4 set last year, Apple announced today.
The device sells for $199 for the 16GB model, $299 for the 32GB version and $399 for the new 64 GB model. Sprint is selling iPhones for the first time as well, including the iPhone 4S and the older, iPhone 4, which goes for $99.99.
Apple has sold out of initial iPhone 4S pre-order stock, and shipping estimates have been pushed back to 1-2 weeks. Over 1 million pre-orders for the iPhone 4S were placed within the first 24 hours of availability worldwide, breaking all previous records for initial Apple product sales.
